概要
Okinoshima (Okitsu-miya) has been worshipped as an island inhabited by deities since ancient times. It is a rare place where the tens of thousands of treasures have remained, showing the changes of the times. Furthermore, this faith is still passed down to the present day through religious ceremonies such as the Miare Festival and in everyday life.
We will visit three locations of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Sacred Island of Okinoshima and Associated sites in the Munakata Region.”
Learn about the history of faith in Okinoshima that has been passed down for 1600 years on Oshima, and experience the lives and background of the fishermen who have inherited that faith.
Duration: 8 hours

Explore the Oshima Koryukan (Exchange Center) and walk the coastline, reflecting on the meaning of the "Island where God Dwells." Nakatsu-gu is one of the three shrines of Munkata Taisha that are dedicated to the Three Female Deities of Munakata. As a spiritual center for the people of Oshima, it enshrines the deity Tagitsuhime.
