Akio’s ability to blend contemporary art with Japan’s history and spirituality is impressive, he made Shinto’s abstract nature click for me through a single metaphor about a magnet gathering people the way a shrine does. His decade of guiding plus his years in New York resonate with me and his years in Canada come through in how naturally he connects with an international audience. I’d recommend him to any traveler who wants stories and meaning, not just sightseeing.
