Overview

Escape the bustling streets of Shibuya and experience the perfect mix of modern Tokyo and traditional culture! We will start our evening at a highly popular, stylishly renovated sento (traditional public bathhouse) known for its modern art and relaxing atmosphere. The best part? This bathhouse is 100% tattoo-friendly!
After soaking in the hot water and refreshing ourselves, we’ll head to a lively local Izakaya nearby. We can share great food, laugh, and have deep conversations about everything from Japanese pop culture to our favorite global music. I’m more than happy to help you navigate the menu and order the best local beers, sake, and authentic pub food like Yakitori! Let's hang out, make great memories, and enjoy the real Tokyo nightlife together.

Route

  1. 1

    Let's go to Kairyu Onsen.

Step 1: Shoes Off First! When we arrive at Kairyoyu, the very first rule of Japanese culture applies: no shoes inside! We’ll put our shoes in the small lockers right at the entrance and take the wooden or plastic key. Step 2: Getting the Ticket Next, we’ll buy our entry tickets at the vending machine. If you didn't bring a towel, don't worry! We can easily rent a towel set here. Step 3: Check-in at the Front Desk We will hand our tickets and shoe locker keys to the staff at the front counter. In return, they will give us a wristband with a locker key for the changing room (and your rental towels if you ordered them). Step 4: The Changing Room (No Swimsuits!) This is where we split up into the men's (blue curtain) and women's (red curtain) sections. You must take off all your clothes—swimsuits are not allowed in Japanese public baths! Put everything, including your phone, into your designated locker and lock it. You only bring the small face towel inside with you. Step 5: Wash Before You Soak (Crucial Rule!) Before getting into the beautiful hot baths, it is a strict Japanese rule to wash your body completely. Grab a stool and a bucket at one of the shower stations, wash up with soap and shampoo, and rinse all the bubbles off. Step 6: Relax and Enjoy Now you're ready to soak! Just remember one golden rule: do not put your small towel into the bathwater. You can place it on top of your head or on the side of the tub. Take a deep breath, chill, and enjoy the beautiful modern art of Kairyoyu!

    Ebisu Yokocho

    Go to eat Izakaya

Step 1: A Retro Food Alley Next, we are going to a place called Ebisu Yokocho. It is a famous indoor food alley. When we walk inside, it feels like stepping back in time to old Japan. You will see many bright paper lanterns and hear a lot of happy voices! Step 2: Many Tiny Restaurants Inside this alley, there are about 20 different tiny restaurants packed together. We can find almost anything here—sushi, beef, grilled vegetables, and more. It is a great place to try a few different kinds of authentic Japanese food. Step 3: The Best Place to Make Friends The most special thing about Ebisu Yokocho is the seating. The tables are very small, and we will sit very close to the other local people. Because everyone is so close, it is super easy to talk to the people next to us. It is the perfect place to say "Kanpai!" with strangers and make new friends tonight!
