Yamagata is best known in Japan as a rural prefecture, with Yamagata cherries being a coveted export. With large swathes of untouched land, the prefecture radiates natural beauty and there are many rare sights to see, like the volcanic Okama Crater or the bizzare Juhyo tree ice monsters. Though it might be hard for English speakers to discern from the accents, but the people of Yamagata are said to have a distinctive Yamagata-ben (Yamagata dialect) that they speak with.
