Tokyo is not all just bustling city streets and neon lights and believe it or not, there are some beautiful scenic spots and hiking spots you can see in Tokyo while on your visit with quick train and bus access from the city center. For example Okutama, a mountainous region located deep in the western part of Tokyo, bordering with Yamanashi and Saitama prefectures can be reached in two hours by train. The Okutama area, and in particular the Okutama Lake are particularly popular for hiking and mountain climbing and the perfect peaceful way to refresh one's self from the busy Tokyo city center. Mt. Takao is another popular spot for hikers and at it's 599 meter (1965 feet) peak and on a clear day, you can even see Mt. Fuji in the distance, as well as views of Tokyo.
