Our most popular article of the year introduced a traditional, thrilling and rare event called the Suwa Onabashira Festival in Nagano prefecture. This festival is only held once every seven years. Spectators watch thousands of men in traditional costumes attempting to hang onto a huge tree trunk while it slides down a steep hill.
