The Institute for Nature Study near Meguro station in Tokyo is an unexpected green oasis right in the center of the metropolis. It is a nature reserve operated by the Ministry of Education that is perfect for walks and photo shooting. It is not suitable for picnicking. Instead, it is place to learn about plants and flowers, preserving historical forests and marshlands. For picnicking you can go to the park of the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum next door.
