“400-year-old stone walls rebuilt by hand, blossom-ringed each spring.”
With origins going back to 1583, Kanazawa Castle is located in Ishikawa Prefecture and was the seat of the powerful Maeda Clan. Unfortunately, the castle has burned down several times over the centuries, most recently in 1881 leaving behind only the Ishikawa-mon Gate and two storehouses. Thankfully, traditional construction methods were taken into account when reconstructing the lost buildings. Many green areas and a garden make the castle park a popular destination for visitors of all ages, especially during the cherry blossom season in spring.

Pretty good spot overall, our tour guide, Kaede, was pretty decent in terms of navigating the spots and leading us to some interesting areas of the place. There's a free area to get a video tour of the castle as well as one other one that's more extensive but has to be paid for, the views of the park itself were great.
Kanazawa Castle Park was a nice place to walk around and take in the scenery. The grounds are well maintained, and there are plenty of paths to explore. I enjoyed learning a bit about the castle's history, and it was a relaxing stop even though I probably wouldn't spend an entire day there.
The Kanazawa Castle Park experience was breathtaking, Kaede our local guide gave great information on the rich history at this castle. It also has the best scenery, I would recommend this to anyone, even people who aren't the biggest history fans. Being at a landmark that goes back hundreds of years and walking the same steps as many did that long ago was surreal.
Very beautiful area with lots of great views of the area around and within the castle as well. The artifacts in the castle also were very interesting and there were a lot of cool historical things you can learn in the castle as well.
The castle and surrounding park area was gorgeous. Very well kept and walkable. Would recommend walking inside the castle to get a look inside the history.
