Beautiful Scenery Culture Experience History

Meiji Jingu Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Despite its location near Harajuku and Yoyogi Park in central Tokyo, the shrine is surrounded by an abundance of nature and is a popular spot for leisurely walks. The vast grounds have a total area of 700,000 square meters, and filling it are over 100,000 trees donated from all over the country. The shrine is separated into the inner gardens, the outer gardens, and the Meiji Kinenkan (also known as the Constitution Memorial Hall). The sports facilities in the outer gardens often house tournaments, and weddings and parties often take place at the inner gardens. Meiji Jingu Shrine is also famous for having the largest number of hatsumode (first shrine visit of the new year) visitors in all of Japan. It is believed that people can receive blessings in love, studies, safety, business, and more by visiting the shrine. In addition, numerous celebrations and events are held at the shrine during the year, including professional sumo wrestler processions, the Dolls' Festival for children, and more. Anyone looking for a respite from the bustle of the Tokyo metropolis should make sure not miss out on the many allures of Meiji Jingu Shrine.
