Shibuya Crossing is Japan’s largest and most famous scramble crossing. At busy times, about 3,000 people are said to cross the intersection during one green light! Scenes of crowds of people all starting to walk at the same time when the lights change are often presented as a spectacle symbolic of the megalopolis of Tokyo, just because of the sheer numbers of pedestrians. This is so much so that Shibuya Crossing is also included in itineraries of sightseeing tours for international visitors to Japan.

The energy of thousands crossing in every direction at once is something no photo prepares you for, pure organized chaos and quintessential Tokyo. However, I feel I have experienced similar in cities like NYC as I am from that area.

Definitely a must see at least once while visiting Japan. It shows you how lively the city is as people try to make it to their locations. Tourists try to take pictures in the crosswalk, and many people walk by. The view of the crossing is amazing from a high building when you see a bunch of people walking.

It was fun, exciting, and chaotic. I loved seeing how many people could physically cross. It is cool to see the famous Shibuya Crossing. There are so many shops and restaurants around it that were fun to look at.

Shibuya Scramble was an incredible experience. The sheer number of people crossing at once is almost unbelievable. There are tons of activities, cafes, and even a 24/7 livestream camera where your family can watch you cross in real time. Definitely recommend!
