Wakayama Castle located in Wakayama prefecture is a large castle tower with three layers of chalk. It is located at the top of Mt. Torafusu, from where you can overlook the city area in all directions. In the stone walls of Wakayama Castle, green tuff (chlorite schist) quarried from Kishu was extensively used, which is typical of the Wakayama region. This construction choice has left Wakayama Castle with a very distinctive design. The castle is also a good place to learn about the historical significance of Wakayama, which, along with Mito and Owari, has left a lasting mark in history as one of the Three Houses of the Tokugawa.

The castle overall was a nice exhibit but I think what really sealed the deal was the view we got at the top of the castle, with a nice backdrop of the entire city in front of you, definitely would recommend to others.

Very beautiful castle, with once in a life-time kind of views when you get to the peak of the castle. I recommend coming here when the weather isn't too hot or humid, as that will make the experience a lot more worth while in my opinion.

Wakayama Castle was a great place to visit and offered some beautiful views of the city from the top. I enjoyed exploring the castle grounds and learning a bit about its history. The walk up was worth it, and the surrounding park made it a peaceful place to spend some time.

Wakayama castle is one of the coolest castles I have seen in all of Japan. The place has a lot of greenery and is rich with history! Around the castle garden was really beautiful and the large walls are stunning. You also have a lot of history inside the history with the Tokugawa shogunate. It is a very underrated place I feel like.
