Overview
Develop the film you shot on your travels — with your own hands.
At PLANQUE, a community darkroom in Komatsu, Ishikawa, you'll develop your own roll of 35mm black & white film and make a contact sheet in the darkroom — a fully analog photography experience.
First, you'll load your exposed film into a developing tank in the dark and process it with chemicals. After washing and drying, your photos reveal themselves for the first time as negatives.
Next, you'll head into the darkroom, place your negatives directly on photographic paper, and expose them to create a contact sheet. Watching the images from your trip slowly appear, one by one, in the developer tray is a thrill that digital photography simply can't match.
No experience with film developing or darkroom work? No problem. Sessions are kept small, and we'll guide you through every step — from handling the equipment to each stage of the process.
Your finished negatives and contact sheet are yours to take home as a one-of-a-kind souvenir of your trip.
What to bring: One roll of exposed 35mm black & white film.
Don't have a film camera, or want to try film photography for the first time? Please contact us before booking.
